Tacoma, WA – The Tacoma Titan baseball team lost twice on Tuesday to the Dolphins of Shoreline Community College, 11-1 and 5-3. These were the last pre season games for TCC before they begin conference play this Saturday April 1st at 12:00pm against Centralia Community College. In the first game of the double header Shoreline CC knocked out Tacoma starter Sam Bishop with a 4-run fourth inning, then used a 6-run fifth inning to end the contest early due to the mercy rule. In that fifth inning only one of the six runs that scored were earned. The lone bright spot offensively for the Titans was first baseman Matt Burpee, who was 2-2 with an RBI. Alsocollecting hits for Tacoma were Joe Stockton (1-3, run scored), Jeff Savas (1-2) and Josh Guild (1-2). It was a 4-run first inning that did in the Titans in Game 2. Shoreline had only 2 hits in the inning, but took advantage of 2 walks and 2 hit batters by Tacoma starter TJ Peabody. After the first inning five TCC pitchers combined to only allow 1 run on 5 hits the rest of the way. Again the offense struggled to score runs, as centerfielder Wally Miller was the only Titan to collect multiple hits, going 2-3 on day. Tacoma pitcher/outfielder Kyle Young was 1-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Tacoma’s other two runs came from sophomore Zack Parnell and freshman Ty Drake.
