Social Sciences Distribution

WELCOME TO THE SOCIAL SCIENCES!images shows a tatooed hand

We encourage you to study the social sciences and to investigate human existence from a variety of theoretical, methodological, and cross-cultural perspectives.

At Tacoma Community College, the Social Sciences include five (5) disciplines:

These disciplines are dedicated to the study of the empirical or scientific investigation of human behavior, both in terms of the individual and the social group.

COURSES FOR MAJORS

Associate in Arts  (Option A) (PDF) The Associate in Arts degree is a 90 credit hour program that enables you to transfer as a junior to a Bachelor’s program at a Washington state university.

  • Guided Pathways (Concentrations) – TCC offers specialized guided pathways (or concentrations) in Anthropology, History, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.  These pathways provide enrollment recommendations and are designed for students who seek to earn the Associate in Arts degree at TCC and then transfer and successfully complete a bachelor degree in the same social science field.  Please see a Faculty Advisor for guidance (see below).
