University of Puget Sound School of Physical Therapy

Transfer agreements do not apply to transfers to UPS. Each course will be evaluated for transferability. Vocational courses may not transfer.

The University of Puget Sound Office of Admission will provide unofficial evaluations of courses proposed to meet the School of Occupational Therapy prerequisites. Requests must be submitted in writing between May 1 and Oct. 1.

Students must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and may prepare for Physical Therapy while pursuing any major course of study. Some majors may be designed as pre-Physical Therapy, but students are cautioned to not assume that programs designed as such will necessarily benefit their application.

  1. Human Anatomy and Physiology (laboratories must be included): EXSC 221 and EXSC 222 or equivalent.
  2. General College Physics (laboratories must be included): PHYS 111 and PHYS 112 or equivalent.
  3. Fundamental Chemistry (laboratories must be included): CHEM 110 and CHEM 111 or equivalent.
  4. Elements of Applied Statistics: MATH 160 or PSYC 201 and PSYC 301 or equivalent.
  5. One course in psychology or sociology emphasizing human behavior or disability. Puget Sound courses that fulfill the requirement include PSYC 101 Introduction to Psychology, PSYC 295, Abnormal Psychology, CSOC 206 Deviance and Social Control; or CSOC 370 Disability, Identity, and Power.

Prerequisite courses should be completed within 10 years of entry into the program. If a longer time has elapsed, the applicant must submit a letter explaining how the knowledge has been kept current.
