Genetics

Photo for GeneticsResearch how living things are coded to be both utterly unique and part of a larger family.

Genetics is the science of heredity, genes, DNA and molecules. To succeed you'll need a strong academic background in geometry, algebra, chemistry, biology and physics. Genetic scientists typically have Ph.Ds.

If you wish to go to work after earning a bachelor's degree, possible jobs could include agricultural scientist, food technologist, soil and plant scientist, animal scientist, high school science teacher and others. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, if you prefer to stop your education at the bachelor's degree level, you are more likely to be considered for a non-scientist job in such fields as marketing, sales and research management.
