X-ray technologists or radiographers operate X-ray equipment to generate diagnostic images of the human body. They perform radiologic examinations independently as well as assisting radiologists or other physicians to meet their imaging needs. Places of employment include hospitals, medical imaging centers, and clinics.

X-ray technologists have a comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. They are also educated in patient care as well as the hazards of ionizing radiation so that they may perform their tasks in a safe, responsible, and professional manner.
