Admission Process

ANNOUNCEMENT!

Online Nursing Application:
Application is accepted for current period only.

LPN to RN Applicants:
Applicants must pass the RN Maternal-Newborn Nursing Care ATI Mobility Examination 60% or higher to qualify for Level 3 entry, and pass RN Care of Children 60% or higher for Level 4 entry. Refer to the Nursing Information packet.

Admission Process

All applicants must be fluent in the English language (both verbal and written), and possess the physical and emotional ability to complete the program. Further information regarding these requirements is available upon request.

Admissions policies are subject to change. It is the responsibility of the applicant to keep up-to-date on any admissions policy changes. Applications will be accepted under the terms in place at the time an application is received online.

  2. Apply to be a student at Tacoma Community College.

  3. Prerequisite courses
    Complete the core prerequisite courses with a 'B' or better in each course
    within two attempts (no B -).
  4. Apply to the Nursing Program
    Complete the online application (see below). All required application documentation must be complete by deadline date. If your application is disqualified for any reason, you will be notified by TCC student email.
  5. Submit official transcripts
    Have all transcripts for prerequisite work completed at other colleges sent to the transcript evaluator by the published deadline. Transcripts do not have to be evaluated by the deadline, just SUBMITTED by the deadline.
  6. Nursing Lottery
    Qualified applicants are entered into the nursing lottery, which selects students for each nursing program. Positions will be filled from the top of the list until all open positions are filled.
  7. New Student Nursing Orientation
    If you are selected and accept a position in the nursing program, you will be required to attend a mandatory orientation. Information regarding additional requirements will be emailed and explained at orientation.

  • If the application deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the effective deadline is the next business day, closing at 5 p.m.

Online Admission Process

Application to TCC Nursing is through on online application only. You will need to be an admitted or registered student at TCC, have access to the student portal and a TCC e-mail account. If you have not attended TCC in the past 12 months, please fill out the admission application http://www.tacomacc.edu/gettingstarted/theenrollmentprocess/and you will be granted TCC student portal and email access. There is no fee to apply to the nursing program. Here is how to access the application.

1.  Sign into the TCC portal (requires you to have an active TCC student account).

2.  Go to your Quick links area and expand the All Reports and Applications.

3.  Select the Academics tab and click on make button. NOTE: The following is just a sample of what you will see in the portal. You must go to the portal for the links to work.

4.  Find Allied Health/Nursing and Nursing Application on your Quick Links list.

5.  You should now access the nursing application, make your selections and confirm application. You do not fill out a lengthy application, it is a quick and simple process! (only LPN to RN students will need to upload documents) 

6.  When you have completed the application the system will send a confirmation e-mail to your TCC e-mail. Do not delete this email, keep it as reference that you have completed the online application.
