Prerequisites

All prerequisites must be completed BEFORE applying to the nursing program

Core Prerequisites

All FACTORED PreREQUISITES must be completed before applying to the Nursing Program. Each course must be successfully passed within two atempts to achieve a grade of “B” or higher. Unsuccessful attempts more than five years old are disregarded.

Each course must be successfully passed within two attempts to achieve a grade of “B” or higher. These attempts include all academic withdrawals and “I, WI, V and Z” as well as grades “B-” and below. There is no expiration date for prerequisites.

  • CHEM& 121 Introduction to Inorganic Chemistry
    Prerequisite: CHEM& 110 or high school chemistry
  • BIOL& 241 Human Anatomy and Physiology I
    Prerequisite: CHEM& 110 and BIOL& 160
  • BIOL& 242 Human Anatomy and Physiology II
    Prerequisite: BIOL& 241
  • ENGL& 101 English Composition I
    Prerequisite: ENGL/ 095
    or ENGL& 102 may be substituted for ENGL& 101, but only two total attempts will be accepted.
  • PSYC& 200 Lifespan Psychology
    Prerequisite: PSYC& 100
  • BIOL& 260 General Microbiology
    Prerequisite: CHEM& 121 and either BIOL& 160 or BIOL& 222. Recommended: CHEM& 131.

    CMST& 110 Multicultural Communication
    Prerequisite: ENGL& 101
    OR
    CMST& 210 Interpersonal Communication

Degree Requirement Non-nursing Courses

Non-nursing support courses must be completed prior to graduation. The nursing program encourages completion PRIOR to beginning the program to keep the academic load manageable.

A grade of "C" or better is required in the courses below:

    Prerequisite: ENGL& 101

    CMST& 101 Introduction to Communication
    OR CMST 110 Multicultural Communication
    Prerequisite: ENGL& 101

* Recommended: SOC& 101 and CMST& 220 as they also meet the pre-nursing transfer degree requirement.

  • SOC& 101* Introduction to Sociology or ANTH& 206 Cultural Anthropology will no longer be a degree requirement.

 

 

 

 

 

  • CMST& 220* Public Speaking, Prerequisite: ENGL& 101 OR CMST& 101 Introduction to Communication OR CMST 110 Multicultural CommunicationPrerequisite: ENGL& 101 will be considered a pre-requisite for the degree program. See above.

Coursework completed at other colleges must be evaluated by TCC Enrollment Services office. After applying to TCC, applicants should submit official transcripts from the originating college to TCC. Do not send transcripts directly to the nursing program.

Courses within the Washington Community and Technical College system with "&" in the course title are universally accepted from college to college.
