ATI Mobility Exam

LPN Placement

LPN placement in the nursing program is based upon knowledge of care for the childbearing family. This content is taught in Level 2 and 3 of the ADN program. Students are categorized for potential level entry before reviewing applications. Competency in this subject material is measured by the ATI Mobility Examination. 

Applicants who choose to take the ATI Mobility Exam “RN Maternal-Newborn Nursing Care” and “RN Nursing Care of Children” do so at their own expense. NOTE: This is not the same as the “PN Maternal-Newborn Nursing Care” and “PN Nursing Care of Children”.) 

If the applicant surpasses the cut score for RN Maternal-Newborn Nursing Care” the applicant will begin the nursing program after the completion of the Level 3 Articulation course (NURS 130).

If the applicant surpasses the cut score for RN Maternal-Newborn Nursing Care” AND “RN Nursing Care of Children” the applicant will begin the nursing program after the completion of the Level 4 Articulation course (NURS 210). 

If the student exam scores are below the cut score, the applicant will not be eligible for entry.

Prerequisite courses do not have to be completed prior to taking the ATI Mobility Examination. Students waiting for approval of their LPN license may take the ATI Mobility Examination. An applicant must pass with a score of 60% or greater. The exam may be repeated only once.

ATI Mobility Exam results must be turned in to the Nursing Program, Tacoma Community College by the published application deadline dates.
