Program Description

TCC's Networking and Convergence Technologies program prepares students for careers in network administration and technical support for both traditional and wireless networks. A series of non-technical and technical core courses provide fundamental computer and system concepts along with related business, office, and communication skills. Advanced course work includes training in PC hardware and operating systems, Windows servers, networking, routing, security and wireless networking. Degrees & Certificates

Networking & Convergence Technologies program certificates are available as stand-alone certificates or they can be applied to the Associate of Applied Sciences degree.

  • Associate of Applied Sciences Degree
  • Help Desk Certificate: This certificate prepares students to perform fundamental PC support tasks and for entry level jobs as a help desk technician. Students are encouraged to sit for the A+ certification exam upon certificate completion.
  • Technical Support: Builds on basic PC support and networking skills and experience to develop more advanced networking skills. Students are encouraged to sit for the Network + certification exam as part of this certificate.
  • Network Administration & Support: Prepares students to perform entry-level network administration tasks on both local and wide area networks.
  • e-HIM: In collaboration the Health Information Management (HIM) program we offer a 43-credit certificate (electronic-Health Information Management).  The certificate will complement the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential, as well as graduates of the Networking & Convergence Technologies degree by providing skills which will allow graduates to become a vital part of any health information management IT team working to develop and/or manage health information electronically. This certificate is also offered as a standalone certificate, which will provide candidates with foundational knowledge that will allow them to enter the healthcare IT field.

If a 4-year degree is your goal, each of our Associate in Applied Science degree programs has several 4-year degree transfer options.

Program Planning

Academic Performance Requirement: All coursework in the program must be completed with grades of 'C' or higher to qualify for any certificates or degrees.

Prerequisites

  • Assessment above or completion of MATH 75
  • Assessment at college-level English or completion of ENGL 95
  • Assessment at college-level Reading or completion of READ 95
  • Completion of CU 100 and CU 101 with a 'C' or higher or instructor permission
