H.I.T. the Trail 5k Scholarship Run/Walk

The HIT faculty are proud to announce our third annual HIT 5K Scholarship Run/Walk event, organized by the graduating HIT class of 2018. This event is both a student-led project in which students are putting to use their project management skills to plan, develop and hold a public event and a fundraising opportunity to benefit future HIT students through a scholarship fund.

All proceeds will go directly to the HIT scholarship fund which will provide financial assistance to students for college tuition, books, and national exam fees.

What is H.I.T.?

Health Information Technology!

This AAS program, offered by Tacoma Community College, prepares students to enter the world of Health Information Management and become guardians of patient health information by ensuring its accuracy, which in turn affects, not just your health, but also your pocketbook! Students study and become knowledgeable of the HIPAA Privacy Laws, proficiency of Medical Coding, which can affect your medical bill and insurance payments, preparation and application of Data Statistics, and Health Information Technology and Standards, to name just a few areas of the program.

Graduates of this program are prepared to take the certification exam to become a Registered Health Information Technician and are trained to work closely with physicians as well as other healthcare facilities. Most importantly the job outlook after graduation from this program is excellent and in many cases students have been hired before completing the program.

Show your support for future students entering this exciting and expanding field of HIM, either through your donation or be healthy and join our Fun Run event!
