The WorkFirst program assists parents who are are receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
Eligible students will be referred by their DSHS Case Manager and at TCC will receive assessment and career planning prior to beginning training to prepare them to enter the workforce in wage progression positions.
Customized job service training programs currently being offered are:
- Computer Fundamentals (successful completion of this first of three sequential certificate programs may allow the student to continue their education and earning potential by continuing their studies in the next two certificte programs: Office Assistant and Administrative Software Specialist)
Some of the services provided are:
- WorkFirst tuition assistance/financial aid (tuition, books, fees)
- WorkFirst work-study (paid work experience)
- Customized Job Skills Training (full-time customized vocational training programs)
- Courses in essential life skills (work attitude and values for employment success, customer service, and financial literacy)
- Free educational assessment testing
- Student services including educational planning, resume assistance, job search assistance
