Writing & Tutoring Center

OUR MISSION:

Our mission is to support your academic success by providing you with tutoring services that supplement your classroom instruction and lead you into a lifetime of successful learning.

Tutoring in Progress

The Writing & Tutoring Centers share a location, experienced staff, and the passion to help foster success in TCC students. We provide free peer tutoring to students who wish to supplement their classroom instruction. Tutoring is available to all students enrolled in college credit classes at TCC.

Our tutors are carefully selected, highly skilled, and dedicated to help students succeed. We take pride in helping students understand concepts, develop learning strategies, and acquire the skills necessary to excel academically.

We are located in the library, Building 7, upstairs, room 221.

Center Hours for 2008:

Mondays:8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Tuesdays:8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Wednesdays:8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Thursdays:8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Fridays:8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturdays:11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

We offer:

Looking for extra help with chemistry, biology, or physics? Check out the
Active Learning Lab in the new science building (Building 29). Drop-in tutoring is also offered on an as-available and first-come-first-served basis. (Drop-in tutoring times for Spring Quarter will be posted soon!)

  • Some HD, business, and GBUS courses
  • Philosophy, polisci, history, and journalism
  • Anthropology, psychology, and sociology
  • Chemistry, physics, and biology (including microbio. and A&P), and HT (130) oceanography, environmental studies
  • Languages (Japanese and Spanish)
  • CU and Office courses
  • Accounting and statistics
  • General research, documentation, and study skills.

Our tutors are here to help TCC students become more skillful, confident, and resourceful students. Tutors strive to provide a comforting environment in which they will help you identify and solve writing problems, come up with new strategies for improvement in your coursework, and learn to apply these strategies to your writing and other assignments.
