Emergency Medical & Health Services Associate in Applied Sciences Degree Plan

Emergency Medical Technician Basic is the first certification level for students pursuing careers in the EMS field. After the 112-hour course, students may become nationally recognized and/or State of Washington certified EMTs.

The Paramedic Education program is designed for students who have completed an EMT-Basic training program, have a minimum of one year of field experience, and wish to continue their education in the field. Paramedics serve as the eyes, ears and hands of an emergency physician while in the field, and are typically employed by fire services, hospitals or ambulance companies for both departmental or privately owned.

The (EMT-P) Paramedic program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of the Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP), a specialized accrediting board, in collaboration with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and recognized by the Council of Higher Education.

Prerequisites

To enter the program, students must meet the requirement of being a certified EMT-Basic (Emergency Medical Technician) with working experience for a minimum of one year or more (volunteer positions acceptable).
