EMT-Basic

The EMT-Basic program here at Tacoma Community College (EMC 110) is the entry level certification course into the field of Emergency Medical Services. To gain entry into the program, please submit all required items listed in the packet to Bldg. 19 RM 70.

No one is admitted to the course without formal acceptance. 

EMT-B's provide basic life support and transportation for victims of illness and injury. The program at TCC follows the U.S. Department of Transportation guidelines as well as the Washington State Department of Social and Health Service standards. The class is taught as a part-time evening class. There are 27 seats available. The class schedule is as follows:

Monday6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Wednesday6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Thursday6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
SaturdayThere are 3-6 all day sessions for clinical and lab

The program is approximately 112 hours. This class fills quickly, and is based on a first come, first served basis. In order to attain a seat please complete your application and turn your criteria in as soon as possible.


Upon completion of the course, students are prepared to fulfill Washington State and/or National Registry requirements for certification as an EMT-Basic. Following a year or more ride time as employed or volunteer this class meets a requirement of the prerequisites for the Paramedic Education Program.
