Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes are designed for adults who are already proficient in the English language, not enrolled in high school, and who wish to improve basic skills in reading, writing, and/or mathematics.
First, you will need to complete the CASAS appraisal test. Next you will attend a new student orientation. Students will be scheduled for the new student orientation as space is available. Orientations are usually scheduled two to three weeks before the start of the quarter. If space is available, there will be an additional orientation two to three weeks after the start of the quarter.
Students can begin testing now for spring quarter ABE and GED classes. Testing times and days are Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays between 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Please bring picture ID.
Tuition for all adult basic skills programs is $25 per quarter. Some courses have an additional $5 fee for class materials.
Note: Some students may be eligible for tuition assistance.
GED preparation classes prepare students for the 5 subjects covered on the General Educational Development (GED) exam: (1) Language Arts- Reading, (2) Language Arts-Writing, (3) Science, (4) Social Studies and (5) Mathematics.
