The Adult Basic Skills department offers a variety of classes for individuals wishing to improve basic reading, writing, math, conversation, employment, basic computer literacy and life skills. Our office is located on the main campus in Building 7.
Programs Include:
- English as a Second Language
- Adult Basic Education
- GED preparation
- Online instruction and other distance learning options
- Family Literacy
- Vocationally focused basic skills courses
- I-BEST - Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training
- Programs designed for WorkFirst participants
Locations
Both daytime and evening classes are offered. TCC offers classes both on campus and at off-campus sites.
Eligibility:
- Adults 19 years of age or older
- Under 19 must be formally released from high school before enrolling
- Individuals with visitor or international student visas are not eligible
Note: The Academic ESL Program offers intensive college preparatory English Language instruction for international students or English language learners who want to prepare for college or university study.
Program Cost:
- Tuition for all basic skills programs is $25 per quarter
- $5-$15 materials fee charged for most classes
Note: Some students may be eligible for tuition assistance.
How to Enroll:
- To enroll, complete the adult basic skills admission form and attend a new student information session. After the information session, students are signed up to take their placement test and fill out registration paperwork.
