Men of Distinction

Spend 8 intensive weeks
this summer with TCC's
of Distinction program!

June 26, 2017-Aug. 17, 2017

Our goal is to help students experience greater overall success at TCC.

The program provides the opportunity to complete developmental course work in the summer. Students are then prepared to begin college-level work in the fall. Depending on initial assessment scores, students may earn 11-13 credits.



  • 18-24 years old
  • African American, Latino or Asian/Pacific Islander
  • High school diploma or GED (by June 25, 2017)
  • Must place at ENGL 85 level or above on the ACCUPLACER test.

To find out if you’re eligible, take the ACCUPLACER test at TCC's Assessment office, Bldg. 7. To prepare for the test, attend one of the FREE Accuplacer Prep workshops, or visit the Accuplacer review website.


Complete the following two forms:


  • Oct. 19: Program Application opens
  • Apr 07: Program enrollment priority deadline
  • June 02: Program enrollment final deadline
  • June 21: Program Orientation
  • June 26: Summer Academy begins
  • Aug. 17: End of Quarter Celebration

Support Services

The Men of Distinction program empowers students to work together to promote personal and academic success. The college also provides support services, including:

  • Advising and educational planning
  • Financial aid counseling
  • Tutoring
  • Personal finance, financial planning and money management assistance
  • Time management and personal goal-setting guidance
  • Academic success planning and assistance
  • Computing resources
