Fall Quarter Starts Monday, Sept. 23 photo

Friday, September 20, 2013 – Are you ready for the start of Fall Quarter Monday? Here are a few tips for getting through your first week:

  1. Go to all of your classes. It’s very important to make it to class on the first day. If you’re not there, the instructor may drop you from the class.
  2. Go to class if you’re on a wait list. Be there every day of the first week if you can. If space opens up and you’re there, the instructor may be able to add you.
  3. Get a parking pass. The line may be long, but Campus Public Safety has extra staff on hand to deal with parking passes the first week. They’ll be in the Bldg. 11 Senate room Monday.
  4. Get here early.  It’s very stressful to know that your class has already started while you’re out circling the parking lot looking for a spot. The parking lots are very crowded during the first week of class. If you’re driving, give yourself plenty of extra time to find a spot!
  5. Get involved. It may seem like a paradox, but students who make time to participate in student government, clubs and activities actually do better in school. We’ve got lots of clubs, but if you don’t see one that reflects your interests, you can start your own! Stop by one of the Student Life Welcome Week booths and get information on clubs, activities, student government and more!
  6. Connect with support resources. Nervous about a math or writing class? Start strong – get to know your Learning Alliance! We want you to succeed in class, and we provide lots of academic support!
