Three presenters will be visiting Tacoma Community College in May, as part of the college’s Student Life Artist & Lecture Series: Tak Toyoshima, Sidney Rittenberg, and Dr. Edith Eger. The events are free and open to the public.

May 2: Tak Toyoshima, cartoonist and creator of the comic strip “Secret Asian Man,” will speak in the Building 11 Student Center 11:30 a.m.

May 7: Sidney Rittenberg toured China during WWII, witnessed the birth of the People’s Republic of China, got to know the Republic’s founding fathers, and subsequently spent 16 years in solitary confinement. His documentary “The Revolutionary” screens at 3 p.m. in the Building 2 Auditorium, followed by a presentation at 4:30.

May 14: Dr. Edith Eger was a Jewish teenager living in Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe when she and her family were sent to Auschwitz in 1944. Rescued by an American soldier in 1945, she eventually moved to the United States and became an acclaimed clinical psychologist and lecturer, helping individuals discard their limitations, discover their powers of self-renewal, and achieve things they previously thought unattainable. Presentation begins at 2:30 p.m. in the Building 2 Auditorium.
