From the President

President Dr. Pamela Transue photoInstructional excellence. Educational access. A powerful and effective learning environment for our increasingly diverse student body. These are the commitments that drive our decisions at Tacoma Community College. They sum up what’s truly important to us here.

Whether or not you’ve attended Tacoma Community College, it belongs to you. Our mission is to serve the evolving needs of our community, and we all benefit from that. I encourage you to find out more and to get involved, as a student or as an interested community member participating in campus activities.

Located at 6501 S. 19th Street, the college's main campus offers a range of academic and occupational degrees, continuing education classes, and developmental learning opportunities. About 8,400 students come to our 150-acre campus each quarter. Since TCC’s opening in 1965, more than 400,000 people have attended.

Like all community colleges, Tacoma Community College has an “open-door” policy, and accepts all applicants. A diverse faculty and staff, specialized counseling, and an accessible campus work to ensure success for students of all ages and backgrounds. Class size at TCC tends to be small, and we pride ourselves on high quality instruction focused on effective learning.

At TCC, we want to bring learning to you, wherever you live or work. The college’s Gig Harbor Campus at 3993 Hunt Street has created new educational opportunities for thousands of Peninsula residents.

Whether you’re considering college for a degree, job training, or personal enrichment, remember that TCC is your community college. Come and see what’s here for you.
