Board of Trustees

Tacoma Community College's Board of Trustees is a
5-member policy-making body. Its members are appointed by Washington's Governor to five-year terms.

Community Leadership

The Board of Trustees for Tacoma Community College is composed of influential community members who live within the College's service area. They are a crucial link between the needs of the Tacoma community and the services offered by TCC.

All trustees sit as members of the Trustees Association of Community and Technical Colleges.
This association is comprised of trustees from the 34 community and technical colleges statewide.

Chad was appointed to the TCC Board of Trustees in October 2009 and was elected vice chair for 2010-2011. He is Chief Executive Officer of Marine View Ventures Inc. Chad earned his Bachelor of Science from Boston College; he holds a Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine School of Law, and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is a member of the Washington and California State Bar Associations.

Liz was appointed to the TCC Board of Trustees in October 2010. Liz is Executive Director for Tacoma Community House. She came to the Tacoma area as Executive Director of the Asian American Alliance. She was appointed Executive Director to the State Commission on Asian American Affairs, then moved to DSHS as state Refugee coordinator and director of the refugee program, then regional director for Pierce and Kitsap counties diversity director, director of policy for Public Assistance and Employment Programs, Assistant Secretary for Economic Services, and finally Deputy Services. She then joined the board of Tacoma Community House where she was named Executive Director in 2009. She serves on the boards of the Japanese American Citizens' League, Pioneer Human Services, and the LASCO Foundation.

Don was appointed to the TCC Board of Trustees in 2007, and is Board Chair for 2010-2011. From 1997-2006, he was a lobbyist for Century Tel, where he was former Governmental Affairs Manager for Washington State. Currently he serves on the Board of the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce and is chair of the Public Affairs committee. He is also chair of the Gig Harbor Rotary Club. For 14 years he was a board member of the Association of Washington Business.

Bob was appointed to the TCC Board of Trustees in December 2010. Bob is President of Ryan, Jorgenson & Limoli, PS, a public accounting firm in Gig Harbor. His affiliations include: The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Gig Harbor Rotary. He is a member of the Franciscan Foundation, and is on the steering committee of St. Anthony's Hospital. Recent past affiliations include president (and founder) of the Peninsula Schools Education Foundation, Chairman of the Narrows Bridge Citizen Advisory Committee, Scoutmaster, District Chairman, and District Treasurer of the Boy Scouts of America. Ryan is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma.

Gretchen was appointed to the TCC Board in November 2013. She is co-founder and president of Systems Consulting, LLC. She is a member of the MultiCare Health Foundation Board, Women in Transportation Association, Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, American Leadership Forum Class XVI, Tacoma City Association of Colored Women's Club form board member, Rotary of Tacoma #8, and has hosted several exchange students. She attended Eastern Kentucky University.
